GOPer Gorman’s Ad for Congress: God, Guns and No Taxes (Video)

June 29, 2010

(ChattahBox)—A right-wing female gunslinger for U.S. Congress? Only in Arizona. A state obsessed with guns and chasing down undocumented immigrants, has produced some interesting conservative politicians, such as the Maverick John McCain (R-AZ) and Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ). And Pamela Gorman, a Republican candidate for Congress in Arizona’s 3rd district, facing a crowded primary, wants to ensure voters get the message that she is sufficiently right-wing, advocating guns, God and no taxes. How does she do that? Produce a campaign ad depicting her shooting lots of guns, including a Thompson submachine gun. Vote for me or else!!!

Gorman, a right-wing tea party candidate, is keeping her campaign message simple, as she is shown firing handguns, a rifle and a machine gun, in between railing against taxes and describing herself as a Christian:

The voiceover in the ad begins by saying, “This year a lot of folks think this is our best shot at changing Congress. Course that all depends on the caliber of our candidates.”

“Meet Pamela Gorman, candidate for Congress in Arizona-3.” Conservative Christian and a pretty fair shot,” says the male voiceover.

“The insiders in the state senate wanted to have her hide when she fought against their plan for higher taxes. But Gorman— she can take care of herself.”

Gorman then gets busy shooting up the Arizona desert with her assorted arsenal. While she is firing away, the ad mentions her 100 percent rating with the NRA, which is not surprising.

The shoot em’ up ad ends with the line, “Conservative Pamela Gorman is always right on target.”

I live in Arizona and these are the kind of fringe fundamentalists that I unfortunately rub elbows with. Like most of the “Tea Party” types they believe that going far right is the way. This may gain them media attention however I would only hope that most Americans will see them as unbalanced people that they are. I believe that most extreme right wing conservatives do not think for themselves and seem to follow any “talk” that is out there in the form of Glen Beck programs and books regardless of its validity.
