Sharron Angle: Press Covering Her Campaign Should ‘Report the News the Way We Want’ (Video)

August 3, 2010

(ChattahBox)—Well, this is truly bizarre, but we are talking about “Second Amendment remedies” wacko Sharron Angle. The far-right–very far right, Republican tea party candidate challenging Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) for his Senate seat, has been avoiding the traditional media like the plague, to hide her extremism from voters. She has even been seen on the local news, literally running away from reporters. Angle is following the playbook of half gov. Sarah Palin and tea party Senatorial candidate in Kentucky, Rand Paul, by limiting media access to Fox News and right-wing talk radio. But Angle can’t even appear normal on Fox News. As she used her Fox News appearance to shamelessly beg for campaign cash, she also admitted to intentionally misleading and manipulating the press. “We needed to have the press be our friend,” said Angle. Wait, what?

Angle, who advocates privatizing social security and Medicare, abolishing the Department of Education, the EPA, repealing the federal income tax and opposes abortions even when a woman’s life is in peril and in cases of rape and incest, is unable to hide her extreme views for long.

She made her recent remarks about the media, during an interview with Fox News’ Carl Cameron:

CAMERON: “There’s been a tremendous amount of discusion about Sharron Angle taking a defensive posture.”

ANGLE: “We needed to have the press be our friend.”

CAMERON: “Wait a minute. Hold on a second. To be your friend…?”

ANGLE: “Well, truly–”

CAMERON: “That sounds lame.”

ANGLE: “Well, no. We wanted them to ask the questions we want to answer so that they report the news the way we want it to be reported.”

Angle, explained she only wants to appear on media outlets that would allow her to beg for cash on the air by saying, “send money to”

This exchange was so strabge, that even the staunchly conservative the National Review was shocked, asking “Did She Just Say That Out Loud?”
