Conspiratorial GOPers to Investigate Global Warming ‘Hoax’

September 28, 2010

(ChattahBox Political News)—-If Republicans do in fact regain the majority in the House after the November elections, Americans can expect a return to conspiratorial McCarthyism, with countless investigations of the Obama administration. In fact, Republican lawmakers, such as Reps. Michele Bachmann (MN) and Rep.Darrell Issa (CA) are licking their chops at the very idea. What about actually legislating and solving our country’s many problems? Haha, yah right. Staging investigative witch hunts against environmental policies and President Obama is more the ticket. Rep. Issa is already readying an investigation of the fake “Climategate” email scandal that has already been debunked. And the accused scientists have been cleared. But that’s not about to stop Issa, because the global warming denier is out to make a big public splash and a name for himself. And what better way to do that then, hype a phony scandal that’s red meat for wingnuts.

Issa, who is poised to become chairman of the powerful Oversight and Government Reform Committee, if the GOP regains control of the House, revealed he also plans to attack science with his new position, complete with subpoena powers.

“I do have a backburner investigation that I’m going to want to have completed, and that is, we paid a lot of money to have international evaluation, most of it done in Britain, that turns out to have been less than truthful in some of the figures,” he said. “We’re going to want to not investigate to get our money back, but we’re going to want to have a do-over of good numbers so that everyone can have confidence.”

“The disputed climate data became the subject of heated controversy last year when hackers released e-mails from the Climatic Research Unit of the University of East Anglia in England. Climate skeptics pointed to the e-mails as evidence that prominent scientists tried to inappropriately manipulate and suppress raw climate data and silence their critics.” […]

“Investigative panels in Britain and the United States have since cleared researchers of any wrongdoing, but some Republican lawmakers remain unconvinced.”

And right behind Issa is Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI), the current ranking member of the Pelosi-created Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. Most Republicans want to trash the panel, but Sensenbrenner has other more devious ideas. The global warming denier plans to use the panel to launch countless anti-science investigations of his own.

The Politico dubs Sensenbrenner’s plan “sweet revenge.”

“Most House Republicans envision killing Nancy Pelosi’s special global warming committee if they claw their way back into the majority this November.

But one senior GOP lawmaker has another idea in mind: sweet revenge.

Wisconsin Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner wants to keep the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming alive so it can investigate climate science and police President Barack Obama’s green policies.”

This clownish hackery would be comical, if it was not the nightmarish reality confronting America.

Think Progress notes that the current crop of Republican candidates are a bunch of global warming denying conspiracy theorists. And that doesn’t bode well for clean energy legislation dealing with the effects of global warming caused by big polluters.

“With the defeat of Rep. Mike Castle (R-DE) in Tuesday’s primary by Tea Party favorite Christine O’Donnell, the slate of Republicans vying for election to the U.S. Senate this November is unanimously opposed to comprehensive climate legislation. An earlier Wonk Room analysis of the 37 Senate races found that Castle was the lone supporter of climate action among a sea of global warming deniers and fossil-funded anti-government ideologues.”

There is indeed, a clear choice this November. Vote Republican if you favor insane right-wing fringe extremism and conspiratorial anti-science policies. If not, vote for a Democrat.

What does chattahbox have to gain by supporting global warming?
This story is so biased that this so called science is true, as we all know the sun has nothing to do with the climate of earth. Duh.

Ignoring reality, from the source of T-GOP “duh” –
“RUSH: … big, big, big global warming news … who the hell are we to say what’s possible and impossible on the sun?  There’s nobody from here that’s ever been there.  There’s nobody from here that’s ever been close enough to get any kind of idea what’s possible and not possible on the sun.  How many people have the IQ, even the most learned among us, how many have the IQ to understand the physics and the concept of a star like Earth … What kind of vanity do we have that we would dare admit that there are things on the sun that are impossible?” (“Global Warming Update”; Mr. Rush Limbaugh, The Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity Extremist Republican and Christian and other corporate ‘ore media outlets;, 3/22/07).

“Global Warming Deniers” have constructed a “logical framework” that is “proof” against all challenges. It goes like this:

“Global Warming Alarmists” are engaged in a politically motivated conspiracy. If research indicates human influence on climate, then the climatologist/scientist who conducted the research fudged the numbers and should be investigated. If an investigation clears the climatologist/scientist of wrongdoing, then it is a whitewash.

Obongo, I’d say that by acknowledging the fact of global warming, Chattabox improves its reputation as a reliable source of information.

Bill Butler, can you explain what how a least squares analysis works? Let me know. If not, I’m probably going to listen to scientists who know how to do math, not you.

It is interesting that recent discoveries have many from the consensus crowd now reevaluating their religion. For instance Phil Jones who recently had been investigated for his involvement in “climategate” went on BBC and passed these tidbibts on to the BBC audience.

*”neither the rate nor magnitude of recent warming is exceptional.
*There was no significant warming from 1998-2009.
*According to the IPCC we should have seen a global temperature increase of at least 0.2°C per decade.
*The IPCC models may have overestimated the climate sensitivity for greenhouse gases, underestimated natural variability, or both.
*This also suggests that there is a systematic upward bias in the impacts estimates based on these models just from this factor alone.
*The logic behind attribution of current warming to well-mixed man-made greenhouse gases is faulty.
*The science is not settled, however unsettling that might be.
*There is a tendency in the IPCC reports to leave out inconvenient findings, especially in the part(s) most likely to be read by policy makers.”

My question is this. If one of the staunchest supporters of the IPCC AGW theory says the above and also publishes a new peer reviewed paper poking holes in man made CO2 as the sole driver of climate, what would he say under oath? Isn’t this worth exploring before we commit trillions of dollars to something that shows modeled theory diverging from instrument measurement? I see no harm in a confirmation process and certainly this is no conspiracy unless you think Phil Jones Pat Flannery Judith Curry and other climate scientists are now Republican co-conspirators.

We will simply want to make sure there are less control freaks and the kind of tyranny that has been going on since and before the assination of President John F.Kennedy and since President Woodrow Wilson’s time, is much less likely to be arranged so incrementally and smoothly ever again, we still have a long way to go to strain out all of the tyrants, who have caused much grief to families and peoples’ lives already! Their must be justice, for peace to arrive!

So if you’ve done the crime stop whinning and avoiding the inevitable, and pay the time!

I am shock that at this stage there is still a question over the facts and science of climate change/global warming. I suppose it has something to do with climate control of our buildings and the fact we are far removed from the narural world.
Saying that, I will but my computer to sleep and turn on the air condition and keep my night light on.
Oh, this may interest you deniers. The leading bank in Europe, Deutsche Bank, working with Colimbia University examines all the skeptics claims that it was not due to human burning of fossil fuels and concluded it was indeed was and a long term threat.
Oh, it’s readily on the web if you care to read it.
I need to go now and go to sleep, I have an overtime shift tow work because O live in Florida and have very expensive hurricane/flood/wind home insurance. It seems that the INSURANCE companies also agree in global warming…when will YOU!?

If Chatterbox would unglue their lips from the backsides of lamestream media and look at the evidence, they might not be quite so biased in their reporting. The public has gotten caught up into a scientific controversy that is usually invisible to the public, but this time everyone is panicked about the possible outcome. The little minds at Chatterbox never heard of Alfred Wegener and his universal slam by science for at least 50 years. But the public did not get involved because drifting continents didn’t seem to be immediately relevant. Scientists are socially and morally retarded and will lie and putdown their intellectual opponents, but this time society as a whole got involved before the facts were settled.

Now, the T-GOP has US at glove compartment gunpoint and is marching us into the natural cycle of non-racist slavery without ever cracking a book. For example, “Global warming is not science, it’s not been proved in the scientific method.  Another test of whether something is … if it’s predictive.  Can you predict from your knowledge of the science? … Global warming has turned out to not be predictive, either, as we have seen over the last ten years” (the old, ugly and evil Rush “LABI” Limbaugh with Hannity/Noory extremist Republican and Christian outlets for legally killing thy neighbors, SS – Storm Soldier rearing his Pilodinal Cyst Phalanx of willing accomplices and sham brides, EIB coli, baby monitor for Planet-Star Wormwoody Jenkins, Missouri mule screwing anything into the ground for more corporate welfare/healthcare like the US military, planetary ecosystems, and US, trying to harvest more Americans than Esso-Koch, aka Dr. “Jeff ‘Gannon’ Christie”;, 9/29/10).
