Anti-Obama Billboard Shows Tea Party’s Racist Depravity

October 13, 2010

(ChattahBox Political News)— The tea party patriots love to spout off about God and country, but they are too morally bankrupt to speak sensibly on either subject. Yet another racist anti-Obama billboard has appeared along our nation’s highways. This time it’s in Colorado and the tea party artist manages to hit a jackpot of racism, homophobia, xenophobia, religious bigotry and outright hate. The billboard, looming above I-70B depicts vile cartoonish caricatures of President Obama, as a homosexual, a Muslim terrorist with bombs strapped to his chest, an illegal Mexican immigrant wearing an oversize sombrero and a mobster. The words, “Vote DemocRat, Join the Game” are emblazoned across the top of the billboard. The artist, Paul Snover a local member of the tea party group, Campaign for Liberty and a frequent contributor to ResistNet, the Internet hangout for disaffected right-wingers, defends his racist garbage on free speech grounds, saying his intention was to inject “humor” into the elections “to get people to think.” Oh, really Paul? The offensive images on the billboard are designed to get people to do anything else but “think.” The anti-Obama billboard is meant to stoke fear and hate and appeal to the ugliest basest human instincts. God and country doesn’t enter into it.

KJCT-TV Channel 8 reports on the billboard that’s generating controversy in Colorado:

“The billboard features U.S. President Barack Obama as a terrorist, mobster, illegal immigrant and a gay man while he gambles with items that many Americans consider dear.”

“Artist Paul Snover says his billboard depicts the Statue of Liberty and the Constitution being gambled with as well as other aspects of patriotism Americans highly regard.”

“Snover says the billboard, which is being paid for by an anonymous community member, is designed to be satirical political humor although many residents of Mesa County (Colo.) aren’t laughing.”

Snover says he was paid $500 for his racist images masquerading as art, by a fellow tea party “patriot” who opposes President Obama.

“He doesn’t care for what Obama is doing for the country and wanted to get that across to the people of Grand Junction and possibly around the country,” said Snover.

“He was wanting to represent the influences he saw the president as having in his administration,” he added.

Snover is not as shy as his anonymous benefactor. An email blast with accompanying photos of the billboard was sent to conservative media outlets yesterday, with a link to Snover’s graphic designer website and his Gmail account.

Why not use racism and hate for a little self promotion, right?

Snover’s Gmail account responds with an automated message.

“Thank you for contacting Paul Snover and The Lower Valley Liberator Newsletter. Paul will respond to your e-mail very soon. Remember, we are a Constitutional Republic, One Nation Under God, and we stand for Freedom with Equal Justice for ALL AMERICAN CITIZENS.”

Apparently, Snover and his gang of “patriots” just want equal justice for Christian white people and not so much for people of color, immigrants and gays.

God and freedom have nothing to do with Snover’s descent into the sewer. But he and others like him are too morally bankrupt to notice.

This idiotic stuff is so prevalent these days. True indications of mental illness in the Tea Party ranks beyond the basic racism. I think it is time for progressives to use a page out of the thew Tea Bagger playbook just to watch them get all hypocritical when liberals use the same language they do. We should start a campaign in the liberal blogosphere where we all start saying if the Tea Party continues to make such traitorous ads, signs and comments about the legally elected President of the United States, that we may have to resort to our “Second Amendment Rights.” And in contrast to their obvious treasonable talk about the same, we can point out that we would be acting as TRUE Patriots since we would be defending a democratically elected President.

I am damned glad I no longer live in Grand Junction – or Colorado at all, for that matter. The place seems to be filled with racist bigots.

Yeah. The racism sucks. Kinda last century. But listen, if you can get a tougher hide, and look a bit at the message, I get what they’re trying to say. I voted for this guy, believing his lies, just like every other politician before him. I’m not making that mistake again. He said he’d pull the troops out, and he puts more in. His pals in Goldman Sucks have gutted our country and people can fool themselves all they want, but we’re in a DEPRESSION, and it’s getting worse by the day. And when I found out that his biggest purse-payer during the campaign was BP and that he has stocks in Nalco, who makes the ‘Corexit’ that’s poisoning our southern region beyond repair, well I’ve had it. How many women wanted to vote for Hillary, just because she’s a woman? How many of us voted for Obama, because he’s ‘black like me’? There’s ALWAYS going to be something. ‘W’ was a redneck.

Here’s what we need to do: FORGET about the race aspect of bigotry, the FAR WORSE problem is CLASSISM!! There IS a war on ‘WE THE PEOPLE’ of EVERY color and creed. Until we realize that these people, WHOEVER they are, do NOT have our best interests at heart, and profit from the suffering of others in lower classes, then we will NEVER rise above the limitations of our baser human behaviours.

    Thank you.

Gee, Billboard Artist, you wanted to represent Obama in an unflattering light, but your caricatures of him bear no resemblance to him at all. You’re not a very skilled artist. Plus your picture is too busy. Maybe you are not talented enough to work outside of a Red State hermetically-sealed low-talent area.
