Angle Challenges Latino Teens: ‘You Look A Little More Asian to Me’

October 18, 2010

(ChattahBox Political News)—- The question must be asked. Is Sharron Angle, the extremist tea party Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate mentally unstable? The radical John Bircher who advocated the use of “Second Amendment remedies” against elected lawmakers she doesn’t agree with, has also called for the phasing out, privatizing and now “personalizing” Social Security. She wants to force women to have the babies of their rapists and even opposes abortion in cases of incest. The unhinged Angle also thinks Obama-supported entitlement programs are “violating the first Commandment,” by forcing Americans to worship a false god. That’s just a sampling of Angle’s lunacy. The woman is also a raging bigot and homophobe, using fear-mongering in her campaign ads to depict scary “illegals” crossing our borders to harm us. When addressing a group of Latino high school students on Friday, Angle even questioned whether all of the students were Hispanic. She told them a few of the teens looked “Asian.”

Angle came under fire recently, for airing one of the most racially charged and despicable campaign ads in history. She showed a photo of scary illegal immigrants crossing the Mexico border at night to take stuff away from white people. It turns out the photo she used was a Getty stock image of Mexican men IN Mexico. Getty and the photographer are in the process of taking action against Angle for her use of the photo to stoke racial resentment.

When asked about the racist ad with the fake photo, Angle told the students she meant to suggest the Mexican men were terrorists from Canada. No, really.

ANGLE: “I think that you’re misinterpreting those commercials. I’m not sure that those are Latinos in that commercial. What it is, is a fence and there are people coming across that fence. What we know is that our northern border is where the terrorists came through. That’s the most porous border that we have. We cannot allow terrorists; we cannot allow anyone to come across our border if we don’t know why they’re coming. So we have to secure all of our borders and that’s what that was about, is border security. Not just our southern border, but our coastal border and our northern border.”

As you can imagine, the Latino, possibly Asian teens weren’t buying it.

Then, as Jon Ralston of the Las Vegas Sun reports, Angle’s remarks took an even stranger turn. “That was nutty enough. But at the same meeting, according to video I have obtained and taken by one of the Hispanic students, she said some of the kids looked more Asian.”

ANGLE: “So that’s what we want is a secure and sovereign nation and, you know, I don’t know that all of you are Latino. Some of you look a little more Asian to me. I don’t know that. [Note: it’s the Hispanic Student Union. The whole room is Hispanic teenagers.] What we know, what we know about ourselves is that we are a melting pot in this country. My grandchildren are evidence of that. I’m evidence of that. I’ve been called the first Asian legislator in our Nevada State Assembly.”

Regarding her bizarre claim that she was touted as Nevada’s “first Asian legislator,” Ralston, who has been covering the bizarre antics of Angle’s senatorial campaign for months, can’t even figure that one out.

“That last comment, about her being called the first Asian legislator? I have no idea what she is talking about, quipped Ralston.

Mentally unstable anyone?

Despite Angle’s frightening extremism, she’s in a statistical dead heat with incumbent Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV).
