Tough Talking Boehner on Dems: ‘We’re Gonna Kick Their Ass’

March 30, 2011

(ChattahBox Political News)—The behind the scenes budget negotiations in the House, to avert a potential government shutdown on April 8, are getting intense. The Plum Line’s Greg Sargent reports that Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) ginned up the troops today vowing to kick some Democratic ass, by getting their way with steep budget cuts in education, healthcare, infrastructure and programs that help the poor and middle class. But with extremist tea party lawmakers forcing Republicans off a cliff demanding even more draconian cuts to domestic discretionary spending, Boehner may lose it all if the teapartiers prevail and bring on a government shutdown.

Greg Sargent writes:

“In a closed door caucus meeting today, a source who was present tells me, Speaker John Boehner reassured Republicans nervous about the ongoing budget standoff with Dems by vowing to “kick their ass.”’

‘“If we stick together and keep the pressure on the Democrats, we’re going to win this fight,” Boehner told assembled Republicans, according to the source. “We’re gonna kick their ass.”’

Boehner is reportedly in direct budget talks with the White House to come to a deal on a package of cuts in the $30 billion range. Since the tea party lawmakers want at least $60 million in cuts, such a deal would not sit well with the slash and burn teapartiers.  Hence, Boehner’s tough talk to his caucus behind closed doors.

We shall see. But a government shutdown looks more and more probable at this point.

Hey Boehner, Where are the jobs?

Tell us about it, Boner. And remember we have another election in 2012. Your GOP chums in Wisconsin and Ohio and Indiana seem to have forgotten about that. Keep dicking with the voters, though, I think it will go a long way towards getting you neo-Nazis out of power.

Boehner should begin kicking the azzzes of the tea party caucus on his side of the aisle before he talks about kicking the opposition’s azzz. They’re the ones who are giving him headaches like he’s never had before. According to Steve Benen @ The Washington Monthly, they don’t respect him, and they don’t feel they owe him anything. Boehner has had had to turn to the Blue dogs to get support for the GOP budget bill. This says a lot about his ability to kick anyone’s azz when he can’t keep his own republican caucus under control.
