Casey Anthony Ordered Back to Florida

August 13, 2011

Casey Anthony has been ordered to return to Florida within two weeks to serve her probation for a 2010 check-fraud conviction. Judge Stan Strickland, sentenced Ms. Anthony in January 2010 to one year of probation after she pleaded guilty to stealing checks from a friend. Judge Belvin Perry, the same judge who presided over Anthony’s sensational murder trial, ruled she had not served her probation while in jail.  Judge Perry, who accepted Anthony’s plea in the check-fraud case said in open court that she was to serve a year’s probation in Florida after her release from jail. Perry said Anthony’s lawyers took advantage of a court error by claiming she would be harmed by serving her probation now. Perry noted a recent celebrity poll that found Anthony is the most hated American, and said her Florida address would be kept secret for this reason. Anthony has disappeared since she was released from jail on July 17, after being acquitted last month in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.
