Hurricane Omar Looking Strong, Nearing Caribbean

Hurricane Omar is looking quite strong as it gets closer and closer to islands in the Caribbean<br /> .........Washington (ChattahBox) – Hurricane Omar is looking quite strong as it gets closer and closer to islands in the Caribbean.

Hurricane warnings were released today for several islands in the Eastern Caribbean Sea.

On top of that, all cruise ships in the area have been doing their best to get out of the way of Omar.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center is expected to upgrade the storm this afternoon.

It has sustained winds of 75 mph, but is picking up steam and could top 100 mph before it hits land.

The islands under a hurricane warning include Saba, St. Martin, Eustatius, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, St. Kitts, St. Barthelemy, Culebra, Islands of Vieques, and Nevis.
