Hundreds of Bodies Found In Argentina

December 10, 2008

Argentina (ChattahBox) – Yet another pit filled with the remains of hundreds of citizens slaughtered during the military dictatorship of Argentina 30 years ago has been found. During a rein of torture, death, and horror, it is estimated that the military killed tens of thousands of people, including political opponents and dissenters.

While the military continues to deny these allegations, one thing that can’t be denied are the pockets filled with bodies regularly being found all over the country, adding further validity to the claims that 30,000, not the officially states 13,000, were murdered during that time. But even so, most bodies have still yet to be found, the remains of those they call ‘the disappeared’, who vanished without a trace, and who’s surviving family are convinced were killed.

This particular set of remains was found in La Plata, a small city that for a time held a large detainment center. Evidence seems to suggest that the victims were lined up, shot, and burned in the pit along with rubber tired to mask the smell. Two hundred bullet holes were found in the wall where they were killed.

While many responsible for the atrocities during the Dirty War have been pardoned, the trials began once again a few years ago, and since then small pockets of leaders have been charged and convicted. Hopefully this latest find will fuel the need for convicting the others who have gotten away with genocide.
