Vatican Says ‘Darwin And Christianity Compatible’

February 12, 2009

Rome (ChattahBox) – The Vatican has released an official statement, claiming that evolution fits in with the Christian view of Creationism, a move that has followed closely on the heels of the Church of England’s admittance of the validity of Darwin’s work.

The Roman Catholic Church has been eager in the last several years to modernize it’s image, and admitting that evolution seems like a genuine scientific explanation for the creation of the world seems to be another step in that aim.

“Saint Augustine never heard the term evolution, but knew that big fish eat smaller fish,” Father Giuseppe Tanzella-Nitti, of Pontifical Santa Croce University, said.

It is hoped by many that this will be the first step in filling the gap between science and religion.
