‘Slapping Wife Is OK’, Says Saudi Judge

May 10, 2009

Saudi Arabia (ChattahBox) – A Saudi judge attending a conference on domestic abuse in the region has said that slapping a woman is alright, if she overspends.

It was an ironic statement considering the nature of the domestic abuse conference, where activists against family violence gathered to discuss the problem. But Judge Hamad al-Razine stand behind his opinion, that money is a valid excuse for beating a woman.

“If a person gives 1,200 Riyals ($320 USD) to his wife, and she spends 900 Riyals ($240 USD) to purchase an abaya from a brand shop, and if her husband slaps her on the face as a reaction to her action, she deserves that punishment,” the Agence France-Presse reported him as saying to the stunned group gathered for the seminar.

According to the judge, the world does women a disservice by putting the blame on the husband in cases of domestic violence. Really, it is the woman’s fault for acting out, apparently. Go figure.

I don’t like the way Saudi judges treat people in their courtrooms. Is that a valid reason for me to beat the living S#!t out of them with a wrecking bar? According to Hamad al-Razine, it is. I suggest we all do that.

Frankly, I’m getting a little tired of seeing jumped-up tribal barbarians being allowed to mingle with civilized people. G.W. Bush wanted to build a border fence, but he wanted to put it on the wrong border. It needs to be built around the Arab world to keep the scumbags inside.
