Will North Korea Really Make The First Move?

July 2, 2009

US (ChattahBox) – North Korea apparently launched several short range missiles into the ocean today, which have done more than raise tension. They have raised a great deal of speculation as well, speculation that has increased amidst rumors of a plan to fire at Hawaii.

While the threat seems far-fetched, and sources have not technically substantiated the claims made by Japanese Intelligence is correct, the situation is becoming increasingly dire. Enough so that the UN has agreed to much harsher restrictions on the Communist nation, and the US has been working closely with South Korea to deal with the growing threat.

Which begs the question: If North Korea does decide to fire a missile into a piece of American land, what will be do in return?

The question is a rather heavy one, with the obvious implication of war at the top the list of appropriate reactions. It also puts into question what will be done if they don’t do something as foolhardy as attack American soil during a time when they have little International support, but continue to make such unbalanced decisions and threats.

Where will we be five years from now?
