Earthquake Rumbles Off Mexico’s Gulf of California

(ChattahBox) — An earthquake measuring a magnitude of 6.9 on the Richter scale struck the state of Baja California in Mexico today at at 1259 local time (1759GMT), according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake struck 76 miles north-north-east of Santa Isabel, a town on the peninsula, and was 9.3 miles deep.  There have been no reports of injuries or damage. There was a risk of a small, localised tsunami in the area, officials and experts warned.
