Minister Under Fire After Man Found To Have Fathered 4 Kids With Daughter

September 17, 2009

Australia (ChattahBox) – Services Minister Lisa Neville (shown left) is under fire for not properly protecting the children of Australia, after a story out of the Sun Herald exposed a young woman who had been raped by her father beginning at the age of 11…with four children as a result.

The case has raised questions over the faults of the Australian child’s services departments, as several government agencies failed to notice the abuse, despite regularly being sent to the family’s home.

The father was known to be abusive and an alcoholic, and his daughter began having children at a very young age, all of which were born with severe developmental problems. None had the name’s of the father on the birth certificate, prompting many to ask why the hospital did not alert authorities to the strange nature of the births.

“I will get full advice and full reports from any relevant government departments that have been involved.

“Any crime against children, any crime against minors is appalling enough on its own, and then for any crime of this type to occur within a family, any crime of that type, speaking generally, is the worst possible crime you can imagine,” Premier John Brumby, who had also learned of the case through the news story, said.

“Any crime that did occur in our state of this type would be met with the full force of the law. Speaking more generally if I could, any crime of this type is one that is shocking and is personally repulsive to me and to other Victorians.”

The mother of the young woman claims she never knew sexual abuse was occurring, and that her daughter had said she did not know the father’s, all of which she claimed to have met in nightclubs.

“We lived in a big house, so I wouldn’t have known,” she said was quoted as saying.

This is the second case of sever child abuse and a failure to intervene to come to light in recent months. A few months ago a two year old was beaten to death by her parents, and it was revealed that police and child services had failed to investigate claims earlier that the child had two black eyes, and was regularly beaten.
