President Obama to Announce New Afghanistan Surge Plan and Exit Strategy Next Week

November 25, 2009

(ChattahBox) — President Barack Obama has said that he is determined to “finish the job” in Afghanistan, with insiders believing he will announce both a surge of around 30,000 new troops, and an outline of the end game.  Obama has held nine rounds of consultations with his war council, the last meeting taking place on Monday night and would formally announce his decision in a national address next week.  The announcement should mostly fulfill a request by his commander, General Stanley McChrystal, who says the extra forces, bringing American troops to about 100,000 in Afghanistan, are needed to carry out a new strategy focused on population centers, to defeat the Taliban.
Eight years after the Sept. 11 attacks led the U.S. into Afghanistan, Obama is preparing to make his case to the nation next week to support the U.S. troop surge, by explaining the perils of losing, and setting the goal “dismantle and destroy” al-Qaida terrorists and extremist allies. According to The Washington Post, not only will President Obama’s primetime address on Afghanistan next week announce escalating the war, but it also “outlines plans for ending it.” In order to placate war skeptics, Obama will outline a “modest endgame” and set a general timeframe for exit, says the Post. The remarks will last 40 minutes.

On a beautiful November day in Obama’s hometown of Chicago there were no children to be seen out on many areas of the City’s South and West sides. Why? Parents are terrified for their babies safety. The result? Children are prisoners in their own homes due to the violence and thuggery permeating neighborhoods (See the beating death of Darrion Albert). What is our president doing protecting us from Afghans? Children are being slaughtered here and he does NOTHING but posture. When will someone in power stop using the poor as stepping stones to power? Mr. Obama you should be ashamed.
