Tiger Woods Treated and Released From Hospital After Car Crash

November 27, 2009

(ChattahBox)—The superstar PGA golfer, Tiger Woods was involved in an early morning accident on Friday, crashing his 2009 Cadillac sports utility vehicle into a fire hydrant and a tree on a neighboring property. Woods’ accident occurred shortly after pulling out of his driveway, outside of his mansion in an exclusive gated community near Orlando. Despite early reports listing Woods, 33, as hospitalized with serious injuries, his agent released a statement saying, the world-renowned golfer was fine.

The accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol said, that alcohol was not a factor and it’s “unknown” on whether a seat belt was used. No one else was in the vehicle with Woods at the time of the accident.

The Florida Highway Patrol says, the accident remains under investigation and charges may be pending against Woods.

After the accident, Woods was transported to Health Central Hospital in nearby Ocoee, and was treated and released for facial injuries.

Wood’s agent Mark Steinberg, senior vice president of IMG, confirmed Woods was in the accident. And he told USA Today that Woods was in good condition.

TMZ is reporting that Woods’ wife told police at the scene that the couple had been arguing immediately before the accident. And Tiger also told hospital officials that he and his wife were arguing, before he left his home around 2:00 AM Friday morning. One Florida law enforcement official referred to the incident, as “a domestic issue.”

Woods’ wife Elin reportedly smashed out the back window of Woods’ SUV with a gold club, to help him out of the wrecked vehicle.

After recovering from reconstructive surgery on his left knee, Woods won six tournaments this year, including the Australian Masters on Nov. 15.

Earlier in the week, The National Enquirer came out with a bombshell story, claiming Woods has been cheating on Elin Norgegren, his wife of six years and mother of his two children, with events planner Rachel Uchitel. Woods’ lawyer told the Enquirer that the championship golfer may have met Rachel in a club at some point, but “vehemently denied an affair.”

Although Woods is reported to be in “good” condition after his car crash, it’s not known whether he will be able to host his tournament; the Chevron World Challenge, on Monday at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
