Iraq Orders All Blackwater Employees to Leave Within 7 Days

February 10, 2010

(ChattahBox)—In the wake of the dismissal of criminal charges against five Blackwater guards who were accused in the September 2007 shooting deaths of 17 Iraqis, Iraq has apparently decided to take matters into its own hands to ensure that justice is served, by demanding that all Blackwater Worldwide employees leave the country immediately, or risk having their visas invoked.

The order to leave the country applies to about 250 current and former employees of Blackwater.

Interior Minister Jawad al-Bolani, said the order specifically targets contractors who worked for Blackwater at the time of the deadly shooting in downtown Baghdad. He noted that all “concerned parties” were notified of the order three days ago.
