European Travel Alerts also issued by Japan

October 4, 2010

(ChattaBox World News) Japan is the latest country since Monday that has issued a travel alert for Europe, advising its population to be cautious as they might become victims of possible attacks.

Other countries that have issued warnings of terrorist attacks in Europe by al-Qaida and its affiliates, include the USA, Canada and Britain.

Because of the possible threats, Japan’s government has cautioned the population to be careful on public transit and while visiting tourist sites.Western intelligence officials said last week they had uncovered a plot by al-Qaida-linked militants based in Pakistan for terror attacks in major British, French and German cities, modeled on the Mumbai shooting in 2008.  There has been a string of recent missile attacks against militants in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal region aimed at thwarting the plot.

Even though Canada’s population is not advised to refrain from visiting places in Europe, they were told to follow the news closely and submit to following the authorities’ advice.

Meanwhile the State Department is reminding U.S. citizens of the potential for terror attacks on public transportation systems and other places frequented by tourists.
