Chilean Miners May Be Safe, But One Is In Trouble With His Wife

October 14, 2010

Chile (ChattahBox World News) – By now nearly everyone knows Yonni Barrios. He was the miner who it turned out had had a mistress for 5 years, one who his wife learned of during the rescue when she showed up for a vigil. Now that he is safely out of the mine the story has come to a head, leading to the end of his 28 year marriage.

Perhaps it is a testament to his gall that he asked that two of the three people allowed to greet him be his wife Marta Salinas, and his girlfriend Susana Valenzuela. It is a clear statement to the way it went over that only Valenzuela  showed up…and Salinas stayed home.

She refused to see him pulled from the mine, even refusing to watch the rescue on television. “It’s been 28 years. If he wants to start a new life with her, well good for him,” she told reporters, saying that he had sent nearly 60 letters since she learned of his affair, begging for forgiveness and apologizing.

Looks like Yonni has a lot ahead of him, including a divorce.

We all have ghosts in our closets. Let’s leave the poor man alone so he can live in peace.
